Fika

Project: Brand identity
Deliverables: Logo, signage, menus, advertising, website, packaging

Demonstrating the 'take a break' philosophy of a Swedish bar and grille.

Logotype

The logo consists of a redrawn 'Helvetica Rounded' font, designed to appear perforated.

The letters were 'removed' to become the Fika logo.

Exterior signage

The venue exterior is made from Swedish birch. The letters were drilled and removed with a jigsaw,

revealing the stoney surface of the wall behind. Wood also became the material of choice as Fikas

speciality dish is the 'Plankstek' - where grilled steak is served on a smoked wooden plank.

Interior installation

The letters feature inside the venue, having a 'Fika'.

Water bottles

Glass bottles were frosted, with a transparent logo revealing the contents.

Flyers

We designed a consistent family of flyers (excuse the pun!) by incorporating the Fika logo into straplines, and die cutting the corners. The illustration and photography style was kept deliberately loose, so each idea was executed in the most effective way.

Poster

Teaser poster for an event we devised called 'Lucky Hunt'. Easter eggs were laid around London, containing prizes from free traditional 'Fika' (coffee and a cake), to three course meals for two.

Traditionally, in Sweden, children dressed up as Easter witches with long skirts, colorful headscarves and painted red cheeks, go from house to house in the neighborhood and present the occupants with paintings and drawings in the hope of getting sweets in return. According to Swedish folklore, during Easter the witches fly to Blåkulla (the Blue Mountain) to meet the devil.

Website

The Fika website homepage shows the letters taking their break. The conversations promote

the latest news and various events coming up, and the delicious variety of food available.
